Los Angeles International Airport has announced an updated marijuana policy. Because marijuana is now legal in California, they updated their policy so that passengers are now allowed to be in possession of marijuana and marijuana-infused products in the airport.
Despite this coming as a shock to most, this policy has been on their website since April and has been in place since California officially legalized the drug for recreational use. Because marijuana remains illegal at the federal level, you’re still not technically allowed to have marijuana on the plain, but the TSA at LAX can only report you to local authorities who would allow it.
As you’d expect, officials at LAX warn passengers that their policy is not universal for airports. If marijuana is not legal where you land, you could find yourself in trouble or, at the very least, your products confiscated.
